With 100 miles of coastline, the Yorkshire Coast is one of the jewels of Britain, with plenty of sparkling towns to visit along its storied shores.

As a former spa town, Scarborough has been a popular destination for getaways since the 1600s, however, it has become far more than a spa town since, enhancing its relaxation properties with layers of excitement.

The town is now more akin to a beach resort, with Luna Park, Peasholm Park and Planet Circus all providing copious amounts of entertainment. Luna Park supplies all the theme park rides you could need; whereas Peasholm is oriental-themed with paddle boat rides available around the park’s waterways; and Planet Circus puts on a show you’ll never forget.

Whitby is the premier place for the history buff along the Yorkshire Coast. The town has plentiful museums such as the Captain Cook Memorial and the Whitby Museum as well as the Whitby Abbey, a stunning piece of gothic architecture.

Looking to interact with some animals during your stay? Head over to Filey and check out their Bird Garden and Animal Park, with the chance to feed some of their exotic wildlife, from meerkats, to wallabies, to the humble donkey. Filey is the perfect family day out!
