St Bees has been a popular holiday destination for over 150 years and with good reason. Sandy St Bees beach, the quaint promenade and excellent visitor facilities make it an ideal base for pleasure-seekers.
St Bees Beach
St Bees isn’t the place to head to if you’re after slot machines or fairground rides. But if you’re after the perfect peaceful day out at the beach it’s hard to beat. There are lovely views of the Isle of Man and St Bees Head – and stunning sunsets to be had if you stay awhile.
When the tide’s in the colourful pebbles make for a beautiful backdrop but if you’re seeking sand of the sandcastle kind it’s best to plan ahead and ensure you’re here when the tide’s out. And when the surf’s up you’ll see plenty of enthusiasts riding the waves – which can get quite wild at times.
St Bees is also the place the Coast to Coast walk begins – you can see the monument that marks the start of Wainwrights famous walk.
