Due to urgent repairs to the track, train services are being disrupted between Marple and Chinley (in both directions).
Network Rail staff continue to work to rectify the issue and the line is not expected to reopen before the end of August 2024.
Effect on service:
Monday to Saturday (until Friday 5th July)
Train services are facing disruption between New Mills Central and Chinley.
Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield services will divert via Stockport.
Manchester Piccadilly to New Mills Central services are not affected.
Road transport is currently operating between Chinley & New Mills Central (in both directions).
Revised services from Saturday 6th July until Sunday 25th August:
The railway line between Marple and Chinley will be temporarily closed for further repair work.
Manchester to New Mills Central via Bredbury
Monday to Saturday, an hourly train service will run between Manchester Piccadilly and Marple. A bus service will run between Marple and Chinley. Sunday - An hourly bus service will run between Manchester Piccadilly, Bredbury, Marple and Chinley.
Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield
Services between Chinley and Manchester Piccadilly continue to divert via Hazel Grove and Stockport, with a bus service in operation between Chinley and Marple.
Replacement road transport:
Will be provided, please see on-line journey planners for departure time. Please see station information posters for the location of the bus pick and be advised journey times will be extended by up to 45 minutes when using replacement road transport.

Following a fault with the signalling system between Warrington Central and Liverpool Lime Street all lines have now reopened.
How does it affect your service:
Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 45 minutes. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Our advice to our customers:
Services between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester stations via Warrington are currently being disrupted due to a signal fault in the Hunts Cross area. Network Rail Engineers have attended and power to the signalling has been restored.
Effect on service:
Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester stations - Services now able to run as booked
Alternative travel suggestions:
The route between Liverpool and Manchester stations via Newton-le-Willows is not affected by this issue

Planned engineering work will take place between Hadfield and Manchester Piccadilly on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 23:35, Monday 01 July 2024 to 05:15, Friday 05 July 2024.
Some services will be replaced by buses throughout.
Monday 1st - Thursday 4th
The 22:47 Sheffield to Manchester Piccadilly service will not call at New Mills Central, Strines, Marple, Romiley, Bredbury, Brinnington, Reddish North, Ryder Brow, Belle Vue and Ashburys, and will call additionally at Stockport. A bus will be provided from Chinley to Manchester Piccadilly to serve intermediate stations.
The 23:18 New Mills Central to Manchester Piccadilly will be bus replaced throughout.
The 23:25 Manchester Piccadilly to New Mills Central service will be bus replaced throughout.
The 23:29 Manchester Piccadilly to Glossop service will not run.
A bus will be provided between Manchester Piccadilly and Hadfield, calling at Ashburys, Gorton, Guide Bridge, Flowery Field, Newton for Hyde, Godley, Glossop and Dinting. A mini-bus will be provided between Godley and Hadfield, calling at Hattersley, Broadbottom, Glossop and Dinting.
The 22:17 Stoke to Manchester Piccadilly service will terminate at Stockport. Onward journeys are available from Stockport to Manchester Piccadilly.
The 23:16 Manchester Piccadilly to Macclesfield service will not run. The 21:55 Blackpool North to Manchester Airport service will be extended to Macclesfield in its place.
The 23:37 Manchester Piccadilly to Manchester Airport service will not run. The 22:22 Blackpool North to Manchester Airport service will call additionally at Mauldeth Road, Burnage, East Didsbury, Gatley and Heald Green.
The 23:10 Manchester Piccadilly to Buxton service will depart at 2308 and run earlier than normally advertised to Stockport.
The 23:13 Manchester Piccadilly to Chester service will depart at 2311 and run earlier than normally advertised to Stockport.
