Engineering, improvements and disruptions
Engineering works, major disruptions and planned improvement work
Engineering works to maintain and improve the rail network usually take place overnight and at weekends. When these works happen, alternative transport such as rail replacement buses will be provided in place of trains. Journey times are likely to be extended and services may start later and finish earlier than the usual timetable.
From time to time, major engineering works can disrupt services for longer. For those biggerworks, we'll provide details on this page before the expected disruption.
Details of what engineering works are taking place across our network over the next 12 weeks can be found on the National Rail website.
Online journey planners, such as National Rail or our App, are the best places to check whether trains have changed due to engineering works or amended timetables.
