With 80% of the land being rural, the county of Lancashire provides an awesome experience for the outdoor aficionado, with plentiful walking trails and some extreme activities to take part in. Lancashire has always been an area recognised for its beauty and now the county capitalises on this beauty with an array of outdoor activities.
There’s no easier way to appreciate Lancashire’s beauty than with one of the region’s many walking and cycling trails. Pendle Hill is a great choice for trails, renowned for the Pendle Witches tale, the area has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with many differently themed walking trails. Some are based around the Pendle Witches, while others focus on local artistry like the Sculpture Walk.
However, Lancashire isn’t just all hills and forests; Lancaster is a city filled with things to do. Having been the centre of the Pendle Witches tale with its castle playing a key role, the city has lots of tours on offer to learn more about its intrepid history. Lancaster is also a great place for shopping, with lots of boutiques available nestled into gorgeous Georgian architecture.
Lancaster isn’t the only large settlement in the region, with Preston, a great place for high-end shopping, and Blackburn, which is bursting with live entertainment all year round!
