Duo tickets are a great way to get out and about by train whilst saving a little cash. There's no need for a Railcard either, simply buy your ticket and travel together to save 25%.

You can now buy Duo tickets through the Northern app and website. You'll get an e-ticket after purchasing that you can show on your phone or download and print out if you like!
What is a Duo ticket?
A Duo ticket is a return ticket for two people between an origin and a destination. The two people must travel together and return the same day.
How to buy a Duo ticket
- Check the tool above to see if Duo tickets are available on your route (and get an idea of prices) - just type in your local station name or tap where it says "See all stations offering Duo tickets"
- Tap the "Book tickets" button on the route you wish to book
- Choose the date and time you want to travel
- Add a return and tick the box where it says "open return" above the calendar
- Tap the "done" button, below the calendar
- Add 2 adults, then tap the "done" button
- Tap the "Search and buy" button
- You can then view the trains available and book the best one for your travels
- Complete your purchase and jump on the train!

Off-peak restrictions
Duo tickets are restricted on the following off-peak journeys:
Restrictions apply to journeys that start and finish on routes marked in blue from 16.01 - 18.29.
For stations/routes marked in green, evening peak restrictions apply between these stations and as listed below in both directions:
- New Mills Central to all stations via Bredbury or Woodley to Manchester (Oxford Road, Piccadilly, Victoria), Deansgate, Salford Central and Salford Crescent
- New Mills Newtown and Disley to all stations via Stockport to Manchester (Oxford Road, Piccadilly, Victoria), Deansgate, Salford Central and Salford Crescent
- Alderley Edge, Wilmslow and Handforth to all stations via Stockport to Manchester (Oxford Road, Piccadilly, Victoria), Deansgate, Salford Central and Salford Crescent
- Alderley Edge, Wilmslow and Styal via Manchester Airport to Manchester (Oxford Road, Piccadilly, Victoria), Deansgate, Salford Central and Salford Crescent
- Warrington Central, Padgate and Birchwood via Urmston to Manchester (Oxford Road, Piccadilly, Victoria), Deansgate, Salford Central and Salford Crescent
- Warrington Bank Quay, Earlestown and Newton-le-Willows via Eccles to Manchester (Oxford Road, Piccadilly, Victoria), Deansgate, Salford Central and Salford Crescent
- Burscough Bridge, Hoscar, Parbold via Atherton or Westhoughton to Manchester (Oxford Road, Piccadilly, Victoria), Deansgate, Salford Central and Salford Crescent
