Leeds is home to four outstanding theatres, the first direct arena, and is one of three cities outside London to boast an Opera House and Ballet company; Opera North and Northern Ballet. Whether it’s a musical at Leeds Grand Theatre, ballet at Leeds Playhouse, comedy at Carriageworks Theatre or the charming Leeds City Varieties Music Hall there’s a show to suit all tastes and ages.

Leeds has one of the most vibrant live music scenes in the UK. Not only is Leeds home to the award-winning first direct arena with live music, comedy and more, you can enjoy regular gigs at the O2 Academy, The Wardrobe, Brudenell Social Club, Headrow House and Belgrave Music Hall. Leeds College of Music is the largest specialist conservatoire in the UK; their packed concert season welcomes everyone from global stars to up-and-coming talents.

Leeds International Concert Season programmes over 200 concerts a year in venues across the Leeds area and includes the UK’s finest brass band series, international chamber music, jazz, world and rock. The highlight of each season is the International Orchestral Series which sees national and international orchestras visit Leeds Town Hall on Saturday nights. Plus, a unique series of sixty lunchtime chamber and organ recitals offers the most extensive programme of free music in Britain. Music moves outside in the Summer for bandstand concerts in Leeds parks.
