Beautiful and unique Peasholm Park is never closed. It’s one of the nation’s favourite parks, so if you haven’t yet visited now’s the time.
Home to streams, oriental bridges, gentle waterfalls and a tranquil lake, Peasholm Park is a veritable haven of tranquillity. In the summer months, you can hire rowing boats, canoes and pedalos with dragon heads and take a leisurely tour of the lake. Or take the lazy route and pay for someone else to steer you around in a Swan boat. If you’re happier on land get yourself comfortable and listen to music drifting across from the bandstand in the centre of the lake. But be prepared because regular naval war battles are played out on the lake during the summer - always to a packed house!
There are plenty of options for refreshments, or bring your own picnic and find a quiet spot to sit and enjoy it. Wander the park’s various pathways and follow the natural stream with its gentle waterfalls and pass exquisite and sometimes rare trees and flowers. Explore the island in the centre by crossing the Japanese-style bridge to view the impressive pagoda.
