Blackpool customers urged to plan carefully ahead of RMT strike
Engineering work, coupled with RMT strike action, means there will be no rail services on Saturday 3 March.
Northern has put a rail replacement bus service in place between Preston and Blackpool, but this will be operating on a different timetable than that used during previous engineering work.
Buses to Blackpool South on Saturday 3 March will run hourly from Preston between 9.05am and 6.05pm, whilst the return journeys will operate hourly from 9.45am to 6.45pm.
Buses between Blackpool North and Preston will run every 15 minutes between 7am and 7pm. Every 15 minutes there will be a stopping bus service and an express service calling only at Blackpool North and Preston.
Sharon Keith, Northern’s Regional Director, said: “RMT strike action and engineering work will significantly impact our customers this weekend.
“We will have an hourly bus service to Blackpool South and a more frequent service to Blackpool North, but customers should be aware these services are likely to be extremely busy and journeys will take longer than usual.”
Sharon added: “We are also conscious that 3 March promises to be busy days for Blackpool Pleasure Beach – with special offers in place across the weekend.
“I would advise anyone who planned to travel by train to the attraction this weekend to plan ahead, check the bus timetables on our website carefully, and allow plenty of time for the journey to and from Blackpool.”
Full details of the revised timetables – together with any rail replacement bus schedules – and supporting information for customers can be found on the Northern website.
