Even TWTs will benefit! Northern urges businesses to sign up for Employee Season Scheme and bag their workforce equivalent of 3 months FREE travel to work
The annual ticket, bought by the employer and then deducted in monthly instalments direct from the employees’ paycheque, offers up to 33% discount on their journeys – equating to 12 weeks’ free travel over the course of the year.
The scheme is designed primarily to help people whose job still requires them to travel to their place of work. However, the discount is such that even ‘TWTs’ – the nickname for the large number of people that now only commute into work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays – are still better off on the Employee Season Scheme than they would be buying daily tickets.
Their ticket can be used at weekends and bank holidays too, meaning extra savings for the employee. They will also gain access to exclusive offers and competitions from Northern.
It's free for businesses to sign-up to the scheme. For more information and details of how to register, please visit: www.northernrailway.co.uk/tickets/employee-season-tickets
Mark Powles, commercial and customer director at Northern, said: “We’re always looking for ways to support people making the transition from road to rail.
“This scheme is a great opportunity for businesses to get involved and help their workforce cut the cost of their commute - even for so-called TWTs who only commute three days a week."
Northern has invested in the largest network of digital ticket infrastructure of any train operator in the country, making it easier than ever to buy a ticket via their app, website or one of more than 600 ticket machines across the network.
Northern is the second largest train operator in the UK, with 2,500 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.
