****MEDIA INVITE****Travel to Spain to see new Northern train come off the production line ****MEDIA INVITE****

 The first carriages are due off the production line in the very near future and Northern wants to give the media the opportunity to witness the key milestone in its modernisation programme.

The visit is scheduled to take place from Tuesday 30 January to Thursday 1 February and you are invited to travel from Manchester Airport to Barcelona – then on to Zaragoza – as guests of Northern.

With 43 electric and 55 diesel trains to build, test and launch into service by December 2019 the task ahead of Northern is significant. The design of the units is substantially different to the specification Northern’s customers have experienced historically, with free Wifi, power sockets and digital information screens.

During the trip to Spain, Northern and manufacturer CAF will provide a tour of the factory, a chance to see – and walk around – the first new train, and the opportunity to interview senior figures about the trains and the wider modernisation programme.
