New cycle parking at Poynton station has space for up to 18 bicycles and one for cargo or adapted bikes.
Located in the station car park, the facility was funded by the Cycle Rail Fund and Poynton Town Council.
There are also bike bays opposite the ticket office with a capacity for up to eight bikes.
Craig Harrop, regional director at Northern, said: “We’re pleased to announce the opening of the new cycle parking facilities at Poynton.
“We feel that the opportunity for people to safely park their bikes will help incentivise people off the road and onto their bike – thereby reducing traffic on the roads near our stations.”
