Newcastle: Northern Needs You - Vote With Your Bum!

Our journey towards 2020 and a transformed standard of rail travel is now underway, and we’re starting with your seats!

Where: Newcastle station, Neville Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 5DL

When: Thursday 15 September 2016 from 10.00 – 19.00

  • Pre-arranged interviews available from 10.00
  • Filming can be arranged from 10.00 – 15.00 but not during peak hours at the station

Why: Northern is investing £1billion over the next nine years to transform rail travel in the North. The introduction of 98 state-of-the art, brand new trains by 2020 forms part of this investment.

What: We are committed to making the right improvements for our customers. From Tuesday 30 August to Tuesday 20 September, Northern is holding a series of roadshow events across the network to gather feedback on one of the key design features of the new trains; the seats.

We’re asking our customers and our employees to vote with their bums and decide on which of three seat designs they prefer and would like to see finally installed in our fleet of new trains.

Customers will be encouraged to share their #newseat selfie with Northern on social media via Twitter and Facebook. After they vote for their favourite seat, they’ll be entered into a prize draw to win £500 worth of shopping vouchers.

The first of these roadshows was held at Leeds, Manchester Victoria, Liverpool Lime Street and Blackpool North stations and followed by;
