Northern advice for Mid Cheshire rail users – three-day strike action
That’s the message from Northern, which has put plans in place to help people keep on the move during the strike on 8, 9 and 10 July.
A spokesman for Northern said: “We want to make sure as many people as possible who want to use the railway during the industrial action can do so as easily as possible.
“But it has not been possible to run trains on all routes and anyone who wants to travel between Chester and Manchester should note that rail replacement buses will be operating from Altrincham towards Manchester.”
During the three days, trains will run between Chester and Altrincham on an amended timetable. Buses will run between Altrincham and Stockport and rail users can then catch a connecting rail service from Stockport to Manchester city centre.
The spokesman added: “We have prioritised the busiest services at the busiest times of day, but our timetables are reduced and we expect all services to be extremely busy.
“On Saturday and Monday, the majority of services will run between 7am and 7pm, though they will start winding down from late afternoon. On Sunday, most services will run between 9am and 5pm.”
