Northern customers urged to check before travelling to and from Sheffield due to ongoing disruption
Due to the ongoing repair work, passengers are urged to check journey details ahead of travelling and allow extra journey time.
Rail replacement buses are being provided, but capacity is severely reduced from that of a train service and all buses are subject to COVID-19 restrictions
The following routes are affected, and trains may be cancelled, start or terminate at different stations, or run with delays.
Sheffield to Meadowhall - buses depart every 15 minutes between these stations
Sheffield to Doncaster - A half hourly bus service calling at all intermediate stations.
Sheffield to Nottingham - All trains replaced by buses.
Sheffield to York (via Pontefract) - All trains replaced by buses.
Leeds - Nottingham - All train services cancelled. Alternative Northern services run between Leeds and Meadowhall with buses between Meadowhall and Sheffield departing every 15 minutes. Alternatively, rail replacement coaches will run between Leeds and Nottingham in both directions. Journey times will be extended by up to 120 minutes. Northern tickets will be accepted on East Midlands Railway services between Nottingham and Sheffield.
Leeds - Sheffield via Barnsley - Train services are running to/from Meadowhall. Buses will run every 15 minutes between Sheffield and Meadowhall in both directions. Northern tickets will be accepted on Cross Country services between Leeds and Sheffield.
Leeds - Sheffield via Moorthorpe - Train services are running to/from Meadowhall. Buses will run every 15 minutes between Sheffield and Meadowhall in both directions. Northern tickets will be accepted on Supertram services between Sheffield and Rotherham and on Cross Country services between Leeds and Sheffield.
Sheffield - Huddersfield - Train services will start and terminate at Barnsley- customers are then advised to travel on a train service from Barnsley to Meadowhall to connect with rail replacement coaches between Meadowhall and Sheffield in both directions. Alternatively, there are some rail replacement coaches running between Barnsley and Sheffield.
Sheffield - Lincoln - A full train service is expected to run
Sheffield - Scarborough - Train services can run to/from Doncaster to Hull/Scarborough - A half hourly bus service will replace trains between Doncaster and Sheffield in both directions. Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes.
Sheffield - Doncaster - Train service cancelled in full - A half hourly road transport service has been provided. Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes. Northern tickets will be accepted on Transpenine Express services between Sheffield and Doncaster.
Sheffield - Manchester - A full train service is expected to run.
