NORTHERN ISSUES UPDATE FOR CUSTOMERS AHEAD OF LEEDS LIGHT NIGHT
Northern is operating services between 7am and 7pm on Tuesday 3 and Thursday 5 October with services in some areas finishing before 7pm.
Northern’s Chris Jackson, said: “On both days of strike action we are operating a reduced service in many areas.
“Unfortunately this means that we will be unable to provide train or replacement bus services for festival goers leaving the Leeds Light Night event on Thursday evening.
“We are sorry for any disruption this will cause to people’s plans but wanted to inform everyone, especially day ticket holders, quickly and well in advance of the event’s first day so they can make alternative travel arrangements for their journey home.
“Services home from the event on Friday evening will operate as normal.”
Leeds Light Night has a range of special parking offers for both nights:
- The Tetley Brewery Car Park: £1.80 all evening (5pm – midnight)
- Trinity Leeds: £3 all evening (5pm to 5am)
- University of Leeds Multi-storey: £2 for the first 2 hours, then £1 per hour thereafter
- CitiPark at the Merrion Centre: £1 per hour (for the first 3 hours) from 6pm
- CitiPark on Whitehall Road: £4 flat rate 7pm to 7am
Details of Northern’s revised timetables during RMT’s strike action can be found on Northern’s industrial action page which is available at northernrailway.co.uk/industrialaction.
The planned strike action from RMT comes as Northern is embarking on a journey to modernise its network by 2020. The modernisation programme will see the introduction of 281 new carriages, 243 upgraded trains, 2,000 extra services each week and better stations across the network. 15 refurbished trains are already operating on the network.
