Northern recognised as inclusive employer at Greater Manchester awards

Northern has been recognised for being an inclusive place to work in Greater Manchester. 

The train operator was highly commended for the Best in Inclusion category at the Greater Manchester Good Employment Awards.  

The Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter is a voluntary scheme aimed at raising employment standards across the area. 

It champions commitment to equality, fair pay, and giving employees a say in how their workplace is run. Northern was nominated alongside the Co-operative Bank and Southway Housing Trust. 

Chris Jackson, regional director at Northern, said: “We’re so pleased to be recognised for our achievements. We feel very strongly that equality, diversity and inclusion should be at the forefront of our business and we want Northern to be a great place to work – for everyone.” 

Last month Northern was also recognised by a leading customer experience award scheme for using the lived experience of its passengers to co-create practical solutions to make travel more accessible to all. 

The train operator picked up the Inclusivity title, which it accepted jointly with its strategic customer experience and innovation partner, Hellon, at The Forum Awards held in Nottingham.
