NORTHERN REMINDS ON REDUCED TRAIN SERVICES DURING STRIKE ON 1 AND 4 SEPTEMBER
Northern is reminding customers to check before they travel by train on Friday 1 and Monday 4 September.
Due to RMT strike action, services will only operate between 7am and 7pm, with final services on some routes finishing before 7pm. Northern will run over 900 services, but trains are expected to be extremely busy, journeys may take longer than normal and connections to other services may not be available.
To help customers during the strike, Arriva Trains Wales, East Midlands Trains and Cross Country have agreed to add extra stops to some of their timetabled services, calling at stations usually served by Northern.
Key advice for customers:
- Consider whether your journey is necessary.
- Check before you travel at northernrailway.co.uk/industrialaction, on Twitter @northernassist or at www.journeycheck.com/northern.
- Trains will not be available at all stations, please check on Northern’s website for the full list of stations without a service.
- Northern customers can use their tickets on Arriva Bus services for equivalent journeys where trains are not available.
- If you want to travel through Bolton, please check for replacement bus services that are currently operating between Bolton and Manchester.
- If you are attending the opening nights of Blackpool Illuminations or Bingley Music Live you will need to seek alternative travel options for your journey home as last trains will depart well in advance of the closing time for both events.
Details of the revised timetables can be found on Northern’s industrial action page at northernrailway.co.uk/industrialaction.
