Northern trials New Years Day service between Middlesbrough and Whitby
In a first for the operator, trains will run between Middlesbrough and Whitby on Monday January 1st, 2024.
The special New Year's Day services will depart Middlesbrough at 09.53 and 14.50 and will call at Nunthorpe, Battersby, Danby, Grosmont and Whitby.
Return services will leave Whitby at 11.25 and 16.22 and will feature the same stops as the outbound journey but will also continue from Middlesbrough to Darlington at 12.45, returning at 14.22.
Kerry Peters, regional director art Northern said: “This is the first time our trains will operate on this route on New Year's Day and gives our customers the fantastic opportunity to get out and about and visit the amazing places this area has to offer.”
Locations that can be accessed from this route include the Moors Centre at Danby, Glaisdale for Esk Valley and coastal walks, Grosmont for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and the popular tourist destination of Whitby.
