Northern is under starters orders for Grand National on Saturday
Advising those planning to travel by car that they’re betting on an ‘outsider’, the train operator has scheduled extra services into Liverpool Lime Street from across its network. From there, customers can head to Liverpool Central and connect onto Merseyrail for the 15 minute journey to Aintree station. They will also have extra staff on duty to help with the anticipated demand.
Services are set to be busy, with Manchester United supporters also making their way over to Liverpool for their 12.30pm clash with Everton at Goodison Park.
Chris Jackson, regional director at Northern, said: “It’s going to be a busy day, but we’re well-schooled with those. In racing terms, the trains are the clear thoroughbred here.”
