Northern's Graham in Awards Success
Northern, the UK’s largest train operator outside London, is celebrating success for its Middlesbrough conductor Graham Palmer, who received a Highly Commended award in the Frontline Employee category at the National Transport Awards in London.
Graham is well-known on Northern’s services to Bishop Auckland, Saltburn and Whitby for his rhyming on-train announcements. The popularity of these recently led to him taking a starring role in an advert for the Co-Operative Bank, as well as several local news interviews.
Graham has also been nominated for an award at the North of England Transport Awards in December, having previously won the Customer’s Choice Award at Northern’s internal recognition celebration, the Pride of Northern Awards.
Mike Paterson, Northern’s Regional Director for the North East, “Graham is a fine ambassador for Northern, and we all hope he continues his poetic announcements. As always, it’s fantastic to be recognised with two nominations at these awards and I’m delighted our people continued to be honoured for the fantastic service they deliver every day.”
Northern was also nominated for the Rail Operator of the Year Award.
