Northern’s six-month progress outlined in new Customer Report
From refurbished trains to station upgrades and new technology, customers can use the report to find out all about the progress of Northern’s modernisation program.
David Brown, Managing Director at Northern said: “In the past six months we have made important steps forward in our work to improve rail travel for customers in the north.
“More than 30 refurbished Northern trains are out on the network and improvement work has started at more than 100 stations across the region.
“We have also introduced new ticket vending machines, automatic barriers at stations and added hundreds of additional car parking spaces.
David added: “There is still much work to be done to give our customers the rail service they deserve, but we have made significant steps towards our 2020 targets.
“The next 12 months will bring exciting changes. By the end of 2018 the first of our new trains will arrive, getting customers to destinations more quickly and in more comfort than ever before. We will add more new services and improve frequency on a number of routes.
“And, of course, we will continue to improve our stations; giving our customers better facilities from the start to the end of their journeys.”
