See The Illuminations
There’s no wonder the Blackpool Illuminations are famous when 3.5 million visitors head to Blackpool to see them each year. The sparkling spectacle takes place from late August until early November and costs £2.4 million to stage, but is totally free to visit. With the Illuminations stretching right across the seafront, you can enjoy them in an evening stroll, or join the annual ‘Ride the Lights’ cycling event along the promenade to see the lights before the official switch on. This event is suitable for the whole family and there’s no need to keep your bike with you until the evening, you can store your bike for free at the station until you need it!
Take in some art
For art to suit all tastes visit the Grundy Art Gallery, this local institute has been open since 1911 and is considered the home of art in Blackpool. The gallery is only a 5-minute walk from the train station and hours can be spent enjoying almost 2000 objects which include ceramics, jewellery and photography and videography of historic Blackpool.
