The Veterans Railcard provides rail discounts to ex-armed forces members. If you retired from Her Majesty's Armed Forces (Reserve or Regular) and are no longer eligible for a HM Forces Railcard, this is the railcard for you. 

Who is eligible for a Veterans Railcard?

You can claim your veteran railcard if you’ve served at least one day or more in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces (Regular or Reserve) or Merchant Mariners (providing you’ve seen duty on a legally defined military operation).

You will be required to provide evidence of your eligibility when applying for the Veterans Railcard. Some examples of proof include:

  • A Veteran or military identification card or certificate
  • Proof of an Armed Forces Pension
  • Proof of an award under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme 

How much can I save with a Veterans Railcard?

A Veterans Railcard gives you 1/3 off Standard and First Class Anytime, Off-Peak and Advance fares on train services throughout Great Britain, when you travel after 09:30 Monday to Friday and any time at weekends and on Public Holidays.

How much is the Veterans Railcard?

A Veteran Railcard costs £30 for one year or £70 for three years. You can use this Railcard during peak times.

You can use your Veterans Railcard to travel anywhere in Great Britain on the National Rail network.
