1. World Museum, Liverpool
Nearest station: Lime Street
Expand your knowledge this summer with a trip to Liverpool’s World Museum, which includes treasures and exhibits from all over the world. Investigate artifacts from the world over, across five different continents, like the museum’s extensive and heralded Asia collection, which possesses objects from Japan, China, and Tibet. The museum also has a wide variety of African, American, and Oceanic artefacts for visitors to view.
Apart from the usual exhibitions on offer, the museum is also offering a new and immersive experience centred around one of nature’s most important critters: bees. Learn how these tiny insects influence the world around us and how they are paramount to our survival. The exhibit includes a soundscape that is linked to a live bee colony, interactive elements, and more to feast your eyes on.
Whether you’re going for the exclusive bee exhibit or you want to learn more about how other civilisations lived, Liverpool’s World Museum is a great choice these holidays. Take your next date to the museum and travel on a Northern duo ticket.
2. Agility Park, York
Nearest station: Poppleton
Looking for something active to do on the undoubtedly rainy days that a Great British Summer entails? Look no further than Agility Park York, an indoor space suitable for all ages to use up all of their pent-up energy.
The Agility Park is a great option for kids' birthday parties, stag and hen dos, and anything in between. The park is friendly for kids aged 0 and up, with a section created for younger kids aged 0-3. If you’re looking for more thrills, then a race through the 120-metre-long Ninja Warrior course versus your best mate will be the perfect way to sedate your thrill-seeking mind as well as embrace your competitive spirit.
A great choice for staying active in a unique way, the Agility Park offers a great venue no matter your reason for visiting. Travel with Northern and find great deals on family tickets to Poppleton.
3. Kelham Island Museum, Sheffield
Nearest station: Sheffield
A city once known for being an industrial powerhouse, Sheffield has become a smorgasbord of different cultures, venues, and opportunities for unique days and nights out. However, in order to reinvent itself as a culture hub in the North, Sheffield had to remove itself from steel working and other industries quickly. Despite this, we can still see Sheffield’s industrial roots all around the city, and this is most readily commemorated in Kelham Island Museum, a mecca for everything industrial.
Including Europe’s most powerful still working steam engine, the River Don Engine, the museum offers a chance for visitors to see how Sheffield took itself from industry to independence.
The museum has exhibitions on all of Sheffield’s main industries, from the simplex cars considered the best of their time to the Hawley Tool Collection, which shows off the artisanal ability of Sheffield’s cities.
Embark on a journey through our country’s storied past with the Kelham Island Museum. With free entry, head along whenever you please with a same-day ticket from Northern.
4. Hover Force, Cheshire
Nearest station: Frodsham
As you can probably guess from the name, Hover Force specialises in all things hovercraft and has the only hovercraft duelling track in England. However, the name itself is deceptive as Hover Force is home to a range of uniquely fun activities from combat archery to karting to axe throwing.
They also offer a range of group activities which are perfect for large groups looking to get competitive this July. From old-school sports days to duck herding (yes, it’s exactly as it sounds) to rocket building, there’s plenty of unique fun to be had at Hover Force with as small or large a group as you please.
Save on your travel with Northern and our group tickets, perfect for days away with friends and family.
