Pupils from Great Moor Junior School recently designed a welcome banner which now has pride of place on the platform.
Vicky Cropper, Community and Sustainability Manager for Northern, said: “The banner is the first thing our customers see when they get off the train at Woodsmoor and it’s a wonderful way to welcome them to the area.
“We are delighted to be able to display such a wonderful piece that has not only been created by local children, but also celebrates local history and achievement.”
The banner highlights different features of the Woodsmoor and Great Moor area such as the railway, Blossoms pop group, the A6 and 192 bus, Jaguar motor company and, as a nod to the children’s teacher, a shiny red convertible.
Vicky added: “Northern is committed to working with local communities to build links between the railway and those who live and work nearby.
“The fantastic piece of art at Woodsmoor is a perfect example of what can be achieved when strong links exist and we look forward to working with other communities and groups to brighten more stations across our network.”
