The train operator hosted a Community Volunteer day at the station on Tuesday, 1 August, which saw the whole station receive a bit of TLC.
Vicky Cropper, Northern’s Community and Sustainability Manager, said: “We are absolutely committed to working with our partners and local communities to spruce up our stations and get them looking at their best.
“This week we welcomed colleagues from Network Rail and Carillion as well as a small group of local people – including the Town Mayor – to help with the work.”
The team put in long hours and managed to clear the track and surrounding area of any rubbish, cut down any overgrown vegetation and gave several a new coat of paint.
Vicky added: “It was a busy, but rewarding day. The station looks amazing now and, as well as the general tidy up, we managed to paint the waiting shelter, columns under the canopy, the fences and a new white line on the Manchester-bound platform.
“We are really grateful for the time and effort put in by those who turned up to lend a hand and we will continue to work with everyone in Northwich to ensure the town has a station to be proud of.”
