What improvements have been made at Newton-le-Willows Train Station?

Part of the former Liverpool and Manchester Railway, Newton-le-Willows Station is in the borough of St Helens. Opened in 1861, it now serves the smaller towns that no longer have their stations, including Billinge, Golborne and Haydock.

The original station was redeveloped to cope with the increasing passenger numbers, with the work finishing in 2018. It included new entrances, ticket office and, embracing green energy, electric vehicle charging points. Improved waiting facilities and step-free access provide passengers with an all-round inclusive experience befitting the station’s modern feel.
